Rather than allocating the land to a large mixed-use tower, which would have had little interesting results at the expense of a big investment, it was decided to fully devote to hotel use, allowing to give special features to the project, looking for a personality of individualism motivated by an architect reaction against the coldness and unkindness of conventional hotels. Other reasons were considered as separating areas of public life in the room, being achieved by providing a series of spaces between them, in such a way that with the exception of the rooms overlooking the central courtyard, the rest have absolutely private and individual views, since each of these spaces was solved with a different theme, such as pergolas and shallow reflection pools. Since in this solution by blocks, the guest walks considerable distances, the intention of the project has been to revive the pleasure of walking, combined with the concept of luxury within the spaces, resulting in an atmosphere of dignity based on flattened walls, the use of water, color and light, which are very typical elements of Mexican architecture. Keeping the same atmosphere of large spaces and simple finishes, public areas lead the visitor’s desire to roam around and use stairs, allowing a fluidity of movements that could not be attained if the intention is to move the large number of people by mechanical means. The plastic concept in these areas is to let these big empty spaces and binding elements of great interest in design value or corners that invite to rest. The treatment of the exterior has been based on elements that isolate the inside as much as possible of the life of the city; this treatment is given from the first impression that is a building seeking for privacy and peace for its guests.
