The project is located in the mountains in the center of Mexico, about 100 miles west of Mexico City, in Cerro Gordo. The site has approximately 2 million square feet, with large areas of forest within the boundaries of the property. From its highest point, the terrain goes about 100 ft. downhill, generating a great view of the surrounding hills. The concept of the house includes five buildings, located at different points of the site, connected by a number of routes through the landscape and gardens, converging at the end in a large water feature that serves as distributor to each of the buildings. Access to the whole complex, both pedestrian and vehicular, is located in a depression generated in the great stone wall that covers the entire front of the property, highlighting the fundamental concept of a tecorral. This entrance includes a gatehouse (for access control), the Gatekeeper´s house (two bedrooms, one bathroom, kitchen, living and dining room), wineries and service areas, which are located on one side of the fence. The main house, as well as the access, has a large stone wall whose only entry vain serves as an entrance hall to the fountain, around which are developed all spaces. The lobby connects with the public and private areas of the house, being the first ones (living room, dining room and terraces) located at the ground level and the last ones (master room, library and guest rooms) at the upper level, only separated in both cases by a series of steps. The cinema, kitchen and service areas are at the level access. The covers projected in the house, made with wood and tiled roofs, increase its height emphasizing both the spaces and views towards the whole. The main terrace overlooks to the artificial lake that was created at the end of the site and functions as the major focal point of the house.
