Willows House is located in the Bosques de las Lomas neighborhood at the west of Mexico City. The project is developed in two floors and following the characteristics of the land it is distributed in various levels. At street level you can find the uncovered parking area and a patio that gives you access to the front entrance. On this patio you can also find the access to the service areas. As you walk into the residence you are welcomed by a hall, which also has direct access to the parking area. From this hall you walk down one level and arrive into a great gallery, from where the social area spaces and the services of the house are distributed. As you walk around the gallery you begin by going down one level to the TV room, guest bathroom and a small wine cellar. You continue down half a level to enter the kitchen area, the service area, main living room and dining room. As you go down to this level from the gallery you will also find the access to a patio that connects the living room with a TV room, this creates a large social area with a vast ampleness and extension to the exterior from the areas mentioned. The dining room and living room areas are finished off with a large floor to ceiling window that allows you to walk out into the yard and a small covered terrace where you will also find the grilling area. This terrace allows you to enjoy the view of the large trees in the street behind the lot. The dining room is directly connected to the kitchen from which you can access the service areas. From the kitchen you can walk into the laundry room which has a small living room and a small storage area. This area serves as a hallway into the service room which has a full bathroom and space for a closet. At the foyer in the main access you go up half a level into the upper level where you will find the private area of the house. As you go up you arrive into a hallway that takes you to a family room which connects you through a hallway with the two rooms on this floor. In the hallway you can find a closet and a full bathroom that is shared by these two rooms. These two rooms are really a large room divided by a wall with a sliding door. The family room is an ample space in which you can find a study area for the children; this area opens up into the Master bedroom and one of the bedrooms which counts with a dressing area a full bathroom and a view to the main access and the trees that frame the front façade. The entrance to the master bedroom is through the children´s study area giving the bedroom a little bit of privacy. The master bedroom counts with a large dressing area and a full bathroom, a small office and a terrace with a view to the yard. All the spaces in the residence count with ventilation and natural lighting, even the gallery area is covered throughout by pergolas and a glass dome. A very important consideration for the design of the project was the view that each one of the spaces would have and where they would be located. The volume of the spaces is based on simple shapes with flat slabs, and materials like stone wood and flattened rustic finishes were used, creating a warm ambience that harmonizes with the context of the residence.
