Encino House is located in the Bajío area, in middle of the woods. The project starts from the need of improving the connection between men with the environment. That’s why it is conceived as an architecture that gives back to Earth its kindness, by taking advantage of solar energy, the right use of water and the general care of nature. Thus, the idea of using several pavilions seeded carefully throughout the site of three hectares begins. Each one of them is sensible in terms of the use of light, views, the pronounced slope of the site and traditional Mexican materials such as stone, wood and adobe. The final result is and architecture that mixes all these elements with a timeless and classic language. The main access is featured by a circular fountain with stairs and trees. It’s here where two zones mix the routes that lead to the Main House, the parking, the pool, the conservatory and the orchard. The Main House is characterized by two pavilions with inclined roof that are united by a circulation gallery that also unites all the spaces, forming a game of routes and visual elements that integrate outdoors with indoors. In addition, the spaces are developed by platforms, result of the study of views and natural slope of the site. When entering the house, the landscape is framed by the dining and living room, in addition to a terrace with views towards the valley. Finally, the kitchen is located in the west façade and it stands out by a bricked vault and an outer patio. The circulation gallery takes advantage of the views towards the oak forest and connects to a second pavilion. Developed in two levels, the second pavilion wraps the bedrooms in the upper level and the gym, and studio in the lower level. This volume is characterized by being turned, so it could get a better view for private areas. In outer areas is the pool, which is arrived by a footpath of trees. Because this area is located in the highest point of the land, it has a complete view of the valley. Finally, a road surrounds the ground’s perimeter. This route causes a unique experience since it encourages the surprise when discovering other places that were placed in the middle of the woods such as the orchard, the conservatory and a water dam.
