"After Luis Barragán, Ricardo Legorreta (1931-2011) is the leading exporter of" Mexican "architecture. With his first work in the United States (1985), he made contemporary Mexican architecture known through flattened, blind walls and color. Legorreta managed to translate the influences of José Villagrán, Mathias Goeritz and, above all, Barragán, in what Kenneth Frampton called critical regionalism, in his case expressed in the rescue of colonial and popular typologies and elements, which stand out for the intensive use of color Legorreta used to say: "Color is not the essence of my architecture, it is a tool that I use in my own way; the essence of my work is in the spaces, the proportions are, that is the fundamental and most difficult part of architecture because you know if you did it until you see the finished work. ”In the summer of 2011, Miquel Adrià and Jose Castillo met with Ricardo Legorreta to propose a series of interviews that would delve into his thoughts, his e xperiences, in his way of understanding architecture. Legorreta identified anecdotes linked to different projects and on the other hand a chronological structure of his work was elaborated. The book was agreed to as a lightweight, pocket-size edition bringing together four interviews, of which only two could be conducted due to his death on December 30, 2011. "   ARQUINE
